I have a 16gb iPhone 3G. After putting up with the average sound of my white buds as well as lacking mic & remote functionality (due to losing my orignial headphones), I decided to purchase Apples 'high' end in-ear with mic headphones.

I realised I would lose some functionality (namely volume control) but all the basic features that I want are there.

Problem is, I can get sound, but no response from the mic or remote. At first I thought it was faulty, but the guy in the store could use them fine with his iPhone 3g.

I have reset the phone's settings as well as doing a factory restore, is there anything else I can do before taking the phone to Apple?
