I gave my daughter my iPhone 3G to use as a iPod touch since I now have the i4. I took the sim card out just because it seemed like the safe thing to do.

I was just wondering if I left the sim card in there and she were to lose it or something, can someone access important info from the sim card?

What exactly is on the sim card?

Can someone simply pop their sim card into the phone and make calls?

You may have contact name and phone number on the SIM card if you chose to save them there. Otherwise you are pretty safe. Yes, someone can put an ATT sim card in the phone and make calls. However, the calls would be charged to them not you.

You should save the old SIM card in case you have to restore the phone at some time. You will need it to activate the phone to be able to continue using it as an Ipod touch.
