Yes, yes, I know what you're saying, not another plastic cracking thread. However, nearly all I've read have had plastic cracking around the headphone jack. However, mine has cracked between the silent switch and the silver bezel. The crack is visible to the eye, and can be felt with a nail. It almost looks like a stress fracture since the plastic has come slightly away from the bezel now that it's snapped which indicates to me parts that don't fit properly, and overly brittle plastic. I'm going to try and get a replacement from Carphonewarehouse where I bought it (PAYG).

Picture attached for interest.

Well, Carphonewarehouse won't replace it, but would gladly take £45 from me to have it repaired. I'm really rather peed off by this considering it's faulty workmanship.

Take it to Apple.

But ya ... you may as well post in the other thread.

No Apple shop here. It's nearly 100miles to the nearest Apple shop, so that's not an option. I can't seem to book it in for warranty repaire online either.

Hmmm ... perhaps call in? They may send you one via post, with a box for you to send your old one in.

I've spoken to Apple Customer Services today who have agreed to repair or replace the phone, but it all has to be done by post since it is 143miles to my nearest Apple shop. As such, it can take up to a few weeks.

Where do you live? 143 Miles is insane, especially for UK?

My closest iPhone 3G Vendor is 4 Miles, and Apple shop is about 7.

I live in Newcastle. It's 143 miles to the Glasgow store, or 145 to one in Manchester.
