Okay, I'm trying to jailbreak my iPhone 3G. I'm using PwnageTool. The instructions are to hold down the home and power buttons for ten seconds, then release the power button and continue holding down the home button for five seconds.

The problem I am having is that when I hold down the home and power buttons, the slider appears on screen after about three seconds that asks me to slide it to turn off my iPhone. I ignore this of course, but then my iPhone powers off after about 5 seconds anyway so it can't complete booting into DFU mode.

I've tried getting it into DFU mode now about 20 times and this is driving me crazy. I had no problem jailbreaking a 1st gen iPhone last week using the same steps.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
