I have an iPhone 3G that was previously JB. I wanted to clear everything off of it so I restored it with iTunes. Before I restored it with iTunes I had removed the SIM and it is unactivated anyway having upgraded to a 4S. I want to use the phone as an iPod, and other non phone uses.

After restoring it I use redsn0w to JB it. I DL the IPSW iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore which I think is the right one. I then start redsn0w, select the IPSW, click on jailbreak, and it immediately crashes after seeing the iPhone in DFU mode. Redsn0w is in XP service pack 3 compat mode and run as admin mode.

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but would like and advice, thanks.
