iPhone 3G requires itunes 7.7!! Where is it?

According to :apple: spec page you'll need iTunes7.7...but as of this post the latest iTune is 7.6.2

OK i'm a dumb noob. Didn't know that iTunes 7.7 is due maybe Tues.
I should have titled this iPhone 3G requires itunes 7.7. When will it be out?
I did search (several in fact) but nothing was evident in the first 5 pages that was in the title of the posts that the search returned.
If you can provide a link to this discussion it would be much appreciated

I guess July 11th didn't cross your mind, since that is the day the iPhone is released.
 
Yes 9 days IS eternity to geeks...but which one of you noticed it?;)
And since when is reporting a detail dumb?
 
Well you guys give new meaning to lurk a lot and post only after thorough research and fact check.

It's most-likely due the 11th, though it really SHOULD be out before then. Otherwise it's a LOT to deal with/download in just one day -- especially if you're a new iPhone owner getting MobileMe. First there's the lines, and the activation process (though at least activating's ONE thing you can do ahead of time). Also, as many have said, a final version of 2.0 is probably not loaded on the phone yet, so that will have to be installed first. Then there's iTunes 7.7, and dealing with ALL the content for it, and loading it to your phone. Then there's MobileMe, and setting all of that up. Then downloading apps from the app store...

It's going to be a LONG time until you can actually play/use the phone! :D

i doubt iphone 3g will function without os 2.0

anyway, as a new user they will be downloading itunes for the first time, so that is no different. and it only takes a few minutes for existing users

Seriously though, if you checked the forums, some people are speculating it might come out next Tuesday. Other than that, what do you want us to say? Its already been stated that iTunes 7.7 will be required. Its nearly common knowledge by this point. Maybe you should search before posting?
 
Seems like Rojo is the only one who got my drift...
Activation for an existing customer requires deactivating the old phone, transfer of contacts, calendar etc is going to mean downtime.
Add a new Itunes to the mix and ...well i like to get as much done up front as possible.

Ahhh ...did search...long list of hits for just itunes. And if it is common knowledge why not just say "We think it will be out Tues here's the link to the discussion." Generally that's what i do for noobs on the forums i frequent.
But at least you pointed that out , thanks.

Other forums have stickies right the top: READ THIS FIRST
and advanced search features.

Lastly although blunt you at least point out that it was info out from day one.
i did check a lot of the WWDC blogs in real time but somehow missed the items 7.7 mention.

ZOMG BUT HOW WILL APPLEZ REALEAZE A NEW UPDATE TO ItUNES! WE NEED IT NOW EVEN THOUGH NONE OF US ACTUALLY HAVE A 3G IPHONE!!!!

And myself and others gave you a response, what's the problem? I think you thought you noticed something we all didnt know about but it turns out all of us already knew what you posted. Its not a big deal, no need to get upset about it.
