iPhone 3G S App Store Issue

I recently purchased an iPhone 3G S, but I find that when I download apps from the App Store, they dissapear from the phone within a couple of hours. To get apps on to the device, I must buy them on my computer and sync them on. Any ideas on what the problem is or what to do would be appreciated. Thanks :)
