Hi all

I am on Orange in the UK and I am tempted to go to France and pick up a new Iphone to insert the uk sim card.

What I would like to know does Orange France have the Iphone on Pay as you go?

Many Thanks

French phones are locked. Italian ones are not.

Yes, the French iphone is locked --- but you can pay the carrier 100 euros to get the unlocking code. That was the case for the previous iphone, don't know if it would continue for the new iphone.

Thanks. Does Orange France sell them payasyougo or do have to sign up for a contract?

They sell the current 3G model on pre-pay, at 509€ for the 8Gb and 609€ for the 16Gb.

They have not yet announced their prices or contracts for the 3GS.

Whichever, it's still locked to Orange France unless you pay them extra to unlock it.

Italian prices were €500 for 8GB 3G, €600 for 16GB 3G (I believe). Let's assume the 16GB 3GS will replace the 8GB 3G and the 32GB 3GS will replace the 16GB 3G, so you're looking at €500 for a factory unlocked 16GB 3GS. Besides, Italy > France.
