iPhone 3G S Sold out?

I called the local AT&T store in Altamonte Springs, FL today and they said they're sold out everywhere and might be restocked 2 weeks from now. They suggested I place an online order now to guarantee that I can pick one up in 2 weeks. Anyone else hear the same thing?

Would it be worth it though? I placed my order on Saturday because that was when my contract was over with Verizon. I'd have to drive over to the AT&T store to ask tomorrow, so I wouldn't be able to order on apple.com till tomorrow.

I don't have an Apple store near me, so I'd have to order it online.
 
In several threads, some are told the same thing but I haven't heard of waiting 2 weeks. That sounds a bit fishy to me....though that could be common and I just don't know about it

Did you try the Apple store at the Millenia Mall?

I got mine there mid-launch day and they had plenty.

I was just given the normal 7-14 days through AT&T.com.

I really have no idea how long it will take.

I figured Apple would sell out quicker since the Apple Stores are more popular than the AT&T store. Guess I was wrong lol. I'll check out Altamonte Mall and Mellinia Mall tomorrow. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed. I have an anxious buyer for my 3G and he's getting antsy. But yea, I should've figured Apple would have more. I don't think carrier stores stock much in those tiny places.

if i can figure out if you are allowed to cancel orders if you ordered online through AT&T. I may go check out best buy and wal-mart tomorrow to see if they have any in stock by luck.

Yea it can't hurt to check. I would've just ordered online but I'm probably one of the most impatient people I know.

haha. i know what you mean. I used to be VERY impatient. I'm getting better. Plus I had to wait until June 20 for my Verizon contract to end.

There's one at the Florida Mall too. My nephew works in that Mall. He tells me he could sell my 16GB 3G for $800 pretty easily.

Yea i need to work on it. I ended my T-Mobile contract early to get an iPhone last year and I'm not due for an upgrade until 02/07/10. Luckily I have a buyer for my 3G so that'll cover a good portion of the 3g S. Oh well, I'll just have to deal with my patience issue after this one last purchase! haha
