I've heard they're phenomenally better than the old 3G speakers. Right? What about the mic? Picks up voices a bit easier? It wasn't all too hot on the 3G, speaker phone was a bit difficult, but worked. It'd be awesome if it was more responsive.

Basically, can anyone post a video of the iPhone 3G playing a song at max volume (or any sort of sound that could be replicated) and then the 3G S playing the same song/sound at max volume for a comparison?

I'm sure we'd all love to see it! :D

Thanks to the person who does it, much appreciated!

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rSATOzlmNg

Found a video. No idea why the guy put them both at half volume, though. o_O

The volume is significantly louder and clearer than the 3G. In fact, having it maxed in my car was hurting my ears, so I had to turn it down. It's very nice. Still only mono though.

OK this is BS!!

OK, this is upsetting! I have an iPhone 3G and BOTH speakers worked on that phone. NOW, I bought the iPhone 3Gs and only one of the speakers works. I thought something was wrong.

Soooo, I go stomping down to my local AT&T to get my phone replaced and they proceed to tell me that is normal. In fact, the guy shows me his 3G and only one speaker works on his phone too.

So my question is; when did they stop making the phone with two speakers? Is must have been in the middle of the 3G run, because my first gen phone also has both speakers.

I'm upset!

You're mistaken. None of the past models nor your 3G S have had two speakers. Where do you think the microphone is located?

The 3G has never had 2 speakers on the bottom. One is a speaker the other is a microphone. How else do you expect to talk on the phone?

3G S is the same way.

When I cover one speaker on my old 3G, you can still hear it out of the the other speaker. When i cover it on my 3Gs, you hear NOTHING. I'm telling you, this is a change. You're going to force me to make a video (using my new 3Gs) and post it on You Tube.

bahahahaha I really hope you're kidding...

i hope your not serious. I had the v1 from launch and the 3g from launch. They all had one mic/one speaker.

Please do, we'd love a good laugh! Since day one the iPhone has only had one speaker. The other one is a mic. Sorry, but that's how it is.

Make the video. You're either wrong or have a one-of-a-kind iPhone.

As you're obviously having difficulty understanding via the written word that there is only one 'speaker and one microphone! ;)

Here it is in a picture (courtesy of the Apple iPhone User handbook)

why can't there be speakers all around the phone and not just the bottom?? i'm putting this on my iPhone 4G wish list!

and when you add all the wishes together then we will be complaining why the 4G has doubled in size. lucky for me I'm locked into the 3GS for a while. ;) and on the 4G don't forget the coffee maker feature. :p quite simply it's all about the room.

I can't wait too read the comments people leave! on utube as everybody else said one speaker.. any way have fun with video! ;)

My wife's 3G does have sound coming out of both ports! You can cover either one and it doesn't change the sound level at all. Of everyone I know with an iPhone, hers is the only phone like that. Of course, she broke her screen right after she got it and I replaced it myself (could be something I did).

Looking forward to the video!
