iPhone 3G Shortage coming?

I was just at the Woodfield Apple Store in Schaumburg, IL. They have an AT&T store too. Lines for both stores were huge, and as I was leaving, they started putting up 'Out of Stock' signs at the mall entrances. Might this signal an iPhone shortage this weekend?

I am curious about this... Woodfield is the closest Apple store to me (though an hours drive into traffic and insanity does not sound like an afternoon well spent...) and I called them up 20min ago and they said they still had phones. It was probably just the ATT store that ran out. Seems to be the story anyway. Too bad, as the ATT store that I waited at for 2hrs was only 5min from home.
