I bought my iPhone 3g about four months ago. I dropped it on the cement about 2 months ago and the only thing that happened were some scratches on the back, but everything has worked fine up until now. Then today when I switched the phone to silent, the button just fell off. Will Apple replace the phone even though I dropped it? It seems like they would because it has worked fine for 2 months.

They should, scratches are not a big deal. Mine had tons of little dings and dents and scratches on the back and they replaced it. But they replaced it for software damage, not physical damage.

The warranty doesn't cover physical damage, only software related damage. Hardware damage is also included sometimes like if the mic stops working anf there is no sign of water damage.

This is an iffy matter which can only be solved for sure by a Genius that you take your phone to.
