As I prepare to a new 3GS this week (have been meaning to, just have not got around to it), it occurred to me that the 3G feels considerably slower than it did a year ago. The time for pulling up the camera application for instance or simply starting a new app in general is slower.

I wonder if these little computers get a form of "bit rot". Certainly Macs in general seem less prone to that.

Its not like I am using all of the 16GB either, I think all music, pics and applications use maybe 10 or 11GB.

Any one else see the same thing slow down over time?

this is really interesting that you make this point. I had a 3g experienced the same issue, had a 3gs and started having the cracking issues. So i took the phone in and while I was waiting for the genius I was playing with the demos and noticed how fast they were. When I got my new 3gs (whitebox replacement) the phone was just as fast. But now after having it for just a week I have noticed significant slow down. I wonder if I do a restore and then restore backup if I will notice the speed decrease. I am not sure what could be causing this. I have also experienced strange issues with the keyboard touch not working as quickly.

Actually, my speed seems to be picking up......
