iPhone 3G Syncing, Backup Hanging

So everytime I try to sync my iPhone 3G (I had the original iPhone as well and did the initial sync and got my data off of it and transfered to the new one), it takes FOREVER to back up and just hangs at about 60-75%. So, I just click on the "x" button next to it and skip the backup process.

Anyone know how to fix that?

There's another recent thread on this somewhere. Basically, you right click on your iphone in itunes and select "reset warnings." Then, when it asks you, say no to sending crash reports to apple.
