iPhone 3G touch capabilities dysfunciton - how to reset/reformat

Hello. Tomorrow I am selling my 16GB iPhone 3G. The screen is perfect but the touch capabilities are not working anymore, so I cannot access the phone. I want ensure that I have removed all my personal information so I re-set the phone from within iTunes. Has this completely removed all my personal information? Is there something else I need to/should do to make sure there is nothing left in the hard drive. Thanks in advance!
