So im heading to USA in a week and will be taking my iphone. I got some skype credit so can make some calls over wifi to my american friends' mobiles for like 1.3p per minute (plus 3p connection fee), awesome!

Also O2 allow you to use your inclusive texts abroad, in a 1:4 ratio, so 1 text sent from abroad will count as 4 of my inclusive texts.

Basically i need advice as to what to do before i go, i believe the following are required:

- turn off data roaming
- turn off voicemail
- turn off email-push

Anything im missing?

Cheers

just turn off data roaming and your good. The rest, you do not need to turn off. But turn off 3g, because since you are not using data it is only wasting battery.

It is really nice tips. I think that your should turn off 3g& also data roaming as well. Because it is really helpful to safe energy in battery, otherwise you have to face low battery problem after some time. I also often use it while I am traveling.
