I have iPhone 3G running ios 4.2.1 and firmware 5.15.04. bootloader is not 5.08 so I can't downgrade my baseband.

When i try to upgrade my baseband to 6.15 with redsn0w0.9.6rc17 my phone turns off after the instructions to get into DFU mode.

It gives me the instructions to enter DFU mode, then my phone turns off and it heads to the next screen that says "fetching ipad baseband."
It is stuck on that and when i try pressing the power button it does not turn on. I unplug it to turn it on and it doesn't turn on.
however it will turn on if i plug it back in and hold power+home screen button.

It's been like this and I need the phone to be unlocked for T-Mobile. Please help!! Maybe i missed a step to fix this problem but i can't seem to find any when i google it.

redsn0w also closes by itself while "fetching ipad baseband." I'm on windows vista, run it on xp compatible mode and as administrator everytime.
