I've been noticing several posts from people wanting to see the difference in the photos from the 3G and the 3GS, so I figured why not start a thread where people can take the same picture from both devices and compare.

Ill start it off.

Here's a comparison photo between my iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. Photos were only resized in photoshop, nothing else.

there is definately a difference when i get the chance ill take a comparrison photo from my 3G and 3GS

I took these one right after the other and meticulously used the same lighting, composition, etc. The difference is subtle.

Oh my Lord. I just laughed until I threw up and passed out. I was carried outside for some fresh air, and then immediately fired...all within 45 seconds.

Don't take this the wrong way because these are great shots, but the close up picture comparisons don't really show a quality difference other than to prove that the 3GS does indeed have a macro lens whereas the 3G doesn't. I could hold my Canon 30D with a 2,000 non-macro lens on it 6 inches from something and get a crappy, out of focus picture when compared to a $100 point & shoot that has a macro mode. Again, no offense intended but I think a more fair approach to comparing quality between these two would be in situations that are beyond the minimum focal distance of the 3G. The first comparison in this thread is a great example of this.

I agree, that's why I took the shot that I did. We all know the 3GS will macro better than the 3G. So lets compare the regular point & shoot type of images.

Honestly I am not liking the lighting on the 3GS picture the TC posted.
It seems like the Iphones is correcting the lighting poorly. For example, look at the back of the silver car, It reduces a bit of the bloom like effect, darkening it to the point where you lose detail.
