As you all may know, Anyone who has a broken iPhone can take it into Apple (or call) pay the $199 for out of Warranty replacement and walk out with a new refurb phone.

Any who, I got a SR Rep to exchange my white 16gb iPhone 3g that was out of Warranty for FREE.

I called in asking about replacing the battery/back cover due to cracks, He was asking me questions about the battery, and basicly agreed to swap the phone out for free. Very nice of him, I thought he would have made me pay the $200.

I did do the advance handset replacement option so I paid $29 to have them ship me the phone first, Well I got the phone today (they didn't upgrade me to a 3Gs, BUT since the one year Warranty is on a replacement as well, I can go back in 6 months (usually when the cracks start forming) and request for an handset exchange.

***MY question is:

How can I tell what hardware is used in the phone without opening it up? I swear they're using the same chip thats in the 3Gs in the 3G

Theres a pretty big difference in speed. Also the Screen is a lot brighter compared to the 1 year old 3G.

Everything on the new refurb is the same as it is on the older iPhone.

OS 4.0
Jailbreaked with redsn0w
unlocked with ultrasn0w
being used on T-mobile

Same apps same everything synced.
