Hello fellow members!
How are you all doing? I hope all is well. I am in need of your help/advice. I've owned my iPhone 3G 8GB for 2 years now. I updated to OS4 when it came out and immediately went back to 3.1.3 and stayed there.
Now, for the past few days I've been experiencing some WiFi issues. At first the phone wouldn't connect to my works WiFi. It see's their network and WEP password is correct along with their network name but just won't let me log onto any website, even my email.
Safari error message:
Cannot Open Page
Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding.
It finally stopped and I was able to connect but a few days later, which leads up till today, I can't connect to any WiFi. My work, home, starbucks... anywhere. I'll be able to add the network name, enter a password if needed, WiFi logo appears at the top of the phone but I can't go to google or check my email.
At first I thought this was something software related (it still could be) so I decided to reset my network settings... nothing. Restarted my router and modem but nothing!
I then did a back up and restore. That did nothing. Entered into Recovery Mode and did a fresh restore with 3.1.3 and restored it as a new phone. Nothing.
Restored with 3.1.2... nothing! Tried again with 3.1 and still nothing!!!!
What's the deal?! It's as if my phone's WiFi card has crapped out yet still see's my network and other WiFi hot spots around me and can connect to them just won't let me log onto any website or gmail email server. Everything is set up correctly. I don't know what else to do. I don't have Apple Care so I kind of don't want to bring it in and pay an arm and a leg to receive a refurbished phone a few days later. I rather purchase a iPhone 3GS in a year for less then $100 as my contract expires next December.
I thought it was the browser but that wouldn't make sense as I can't access email either or any apps that use WiFi (WeatherEye)
Is there anything I could do?
Please help?
Thanks in advance.
Mike
