He was talking about AirPlay not iOS5....Airplay is 3GS and up.

Umm I'm a little concerned you aren't correct.

He is obviously talking about AirPlay, not iOS 5. Airplay was introduced in 4.2, which the 3G supports so I don't see why he can't. (As long as he buys an Apple TV of course)

the iPhone 3G did get iOS 4.2 (which introduced AirPlay), but it did not get support AirPlay.
