iPhone 3G won't restore

I so I chose to restore my iPhone 3G. iOS4 took maybe 5 minutes to download but I get to a screen that says restoring iPhone software and it just sits in the same place. What can I do to get my phone working again. It sucks not having a phone for 5 hours

Try putting your iPhone into DFU mode and then attempting the restore. Look it up if you don't know what it is or how to do it.

I tried it just keeps hanging I guess I will try and be patient. Apple BS make old customers pissed with their current phone. So they will buy a new one its bull*****

while we are on a 3g topic. I am giving mine to a buddy once I get me new one. Do I just do a system restore to erase all my info on itunes and the app store etc?
