iPhone 3G Won't Update!

Ok, so I have long awaited the final release of iOS 4, I was previously running a beta version of iOS 4, and when I try to update I get stuck on "Preparing iPhone for Restore", my iPhone then reboots and gives me the error code 1611. I've tried everything on their page and I don't want to send it in because I unlock my iPhone with a Rebel Sim Card. Help!

Hi,
I had a similar prob although phone wasn't hacked or anything. iPhone just wouldn't restore and kept getting 1611 message. Two things to try that eventually worked for me: 1. Try a different computer, even if running the same operating system 2. Uninstall the iPhone drivers, shut your comp down, restart then plug iPhone back in and let comp reinstall drivers.

It worked for me after 2 days of almost losing my friggin mind. Good luck!
