AT&T Pay-as-You-Go SIM Cards finally work with the iPhone 3G now.

IMPORTANT you still have to buy the iPhone 3G with a plan, the change is just that you can switch out the 2-year plan SIM Card with a Pay-as-You-Go SIM Card.

My guess: Apple and AT&T will close this hole ASAP if they weren't aware of it, which I'm sure they are now........

According to comments attached to both of those stories, this has been technically possible for as long as the 3G iPhone has existed - according to one comment, apparently at least since firmware version 1.1.4.

It's particularly useful - and AT&T has recommended it - for people who have upgraded their original iPhone to a 3G model, and when they resold the original phone, they wanted it to be in a functioning state complete with SIM.
