Okay, so I recently purchased an iPhone 3GS with 4.2.1 firmware one it. I want to be able to unlock it for T-Mobile. Obviously, 4.2.1 has a baseband that is not unlockable unless you use redsn0w to change it to the iPad baseband.

Here is my questions.

1. Since I have no SHSH stored, is there anyway to upgrade to a firmware on an 8GB 3GS when Apple has stopped signing?

2. Does the iPad baseband update prevent me from EVER using any stock IPSW even when updating to a new iOS?

I seem to be stuck.
I cannot update to iOS 5 without downloading a new baseband. If I keep my baseband I can never unlock, or I can use iPad baseband and be crippled. Is that truly my only options or do you guys have some master plan for me.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
