iphone 3gs and GPS ?

so simple question....
i'm going on a trip...

but would like to know where i am going


so does this new phone have GPS? and how exactly do i use that? Do i just pull up a map and it tells me where i am located on the map? What if i am in a tunnel?

this is different then the thing from tom tom right? Where you put directions and it tells you how to get there...

Yes,
You tap on the 'Maps' app on the home screen.

In the bottom left corner there should be a crosshair looking icon.

If you press this it will locate you on the map and show you as a blue dot.

Congratulatios on getting the 3G S. No offense, but it sounds like you don't know all that much about this thing and what it can do, prepare to be astounded!

well i haven't gotten the phone yet... by the end of June. and up to now i just sort of glanced at iphone features. I have an ipod touch now...but mainly only use it for music and the occasional tv guide app...and not for mobile communication etc..

Hi. I've just upgraded from 2g to 3gs today so I never had the gps. Is it possible to turn it off? Is it contantly running and using up battery?
