iPhone 3GS backup succeed but no restore available

Hi,

I am trying to use MacBook Pro to backup my iPhone 3GS, and it looks like the backup is Ok. I even found the files it saves to disk after backup.
The problem is I never get the 'Restore' option.
Also the "Device Backups" list in Devices tab is empty (!)

I also have a Windows 7 PC, and there the backup works perfectly.
It's a shame I need to use my Windows machine to backup my iPhone.
iPhone is 4.0.2 and I don't want to update to 4.2.1 before I backup. Device is not jailbreaked. Using latest iTunes (10.1).

Any help would be highly appreciated.
