Hey, guys. Right now I'm thinking of getting a mount for my iPhone for my bike. Hoping to use it for GPS as a temp thing till I can get a new real-GPS.

Does anyone have experience with using Maps for a long time (always open)?

My brightness is "medium" and I plan to have 3G/Location on. I won't be listening to music. And I don't have Push notifications.

Do you guys use Maps to navigate through the city without 3G? I'm on a motorcycle so I would be in fast traffic so I guess 3G would be better?

I'm sure the battery would last longer than 2 hours, right? at 100%?

It burns battery pretty quickly, though I'm not sure on a comparison with, say, watching Netflix or running Dungeon Hunter or Rage HD. The problem is that if it's persistently open it will be using a persistent 3G connection for tracking and updating the maps, and with the screen not turning off...I'd say you should have two hours, but you may want to test it out a couple times before you rely on it.

Good luck if it rains, go through a puddle, or even if you sweat. The iPhone is a POS for a bike computer.
