I've seen the battery percentage on my 3GS jump from 70% to 40%, 65% to 59%, etc.

Is it normal? I running 3.1.2 because it's jailbroken and I can't really be bothered to do a full restore then set everything up again afterwards (plus lose all my gamesaves etc.)

But surely it shouldn't be jumping around like that? I don't think I'm running anything battery intensive.

Since you can’t be bothered to restore (why, I have no idea), you could try calibrating the battery (let it die and then fully recharge). However, I think your battery probably needs to be replaced.

I don't want to restore because I'd have to set the jailbreak stuff up all over again, only to have to do it yet again when 4.0 is out. No point at this time.

I've calibrated the battery recently.

I'd have thought it was just a software prob, since 3.1.3 made the percentage more accurate and I haven't upgraded to it.

The phone is less than a year old, surely the battery isn't going already?
