Hello. I'm new here, though not my first visit to the site.

I bought an iPhone with considerable damage for £100. It's an iPhone 3GS 16gb (White). The screen was smashed, back was dented inwards. It was in despair.

I've now restored it but i'm having some trouble. When I first connected the new LCD it turned white. I was worried but read that it may just need a reset. When I connected to the PC, it came up with "Andys iPhone is password protected", or something like that. This forced to do a restore. I think later on, weeks maybe I connected again and got a black screen after doing some buttons presses.

A few days ago I broke the pins for the home button. Now I'm unable to use the phone in iTunes. It just won't connect.. I'm aware the home button circuit can be replaced for £2 but I'm just wondering whether it's worth it.

Does anyone recognise the symptoms? I didn't mention that when I still had the home button working, black screen present, I tried a restore. It downloaded, tried to install and got an error 29 and 1601, possible 28 too. I nearly put the phone up on eBay but I may aswell give it a go fixing it for the price it cost me overall (£180).

Also, I've replaced the back with all components included..

Again, does anyone recognise the symptoms? I can replace the home button if needed..

If I decided to just flog the phone, If I told the truth about everything I'd done, would I get over £180 as all parts are new?

Thanks, Taz.
