I have a new Acura and when I paired it with my iPhone I ran into a problem when I would be using the headset in that both the headset and the car appear to be synced to the phone at the same time, resulting in terrible audio for both me and the caller.

In my previous Acura, only one would sync at a time and I could switch to my headset simply by clicking it.

I don't see a way of saying "use this bluetooth device" without "forgetting" one. So now my Acura isn't synced to my iPhone because I can't get it to only work with one of the devices at a time.

Is this an Acura issue or can my iPhone be told to only work with one or the other?
