Hi all,

I have a old iPhone 3GS which I can only charge using a docking station connected to a wall socket at home. When I connect my iPhone using the USB cable to any windows pc it doesn't get detected. Lastly, I have also tried to connect the iPhone using the USB cable to the docking station (which has a USB 2 port) and it charges. Another note, all the computers that I have tested does have USB2 ports (including a 6 month old computer from HP) and their corresponding drivers. Any clues? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the same USB/Dock cable? You say the PC's don't detect the phone...Will the phone charge from the PC USB port.

There was a similar problem on here not to long ago, and the user could sync and charge from any Mac, but not from any PC. I don't know what the resolution was, because he never reported what he found.

Which version of windows?

in XP the camera and scanner wizard usually starts, and downloads the photo album.
Don't try using a hub, plug directly into computer usb port.
Does the usb plug detect other drives or devices plugged into it?
Try different cables on the same computer to rule out cable.
There is an apple driver windows needs installed to detect phones.

1. Yes I am using the same cable and dock in all computers.
2. Have not tried on a mac.
3. No Hub involved.

I will try to look for the drivers today. Will report any findings. Thank you all.
