a friend of mine bought an iphone 3g and is stuck in recovery mode after trying to restore it.. now i tried to restore and it gives me 1015 error and i dont know which version he is running to try and re jailbreak it.. any suggestions would greatly help

Download Tiny Umbrella and use it to exit recovery. Your phone should boot up normally to activation screen.
