Hi guy's new here and am in need of help i've tried everything can't seem to get anything to work.

So basically, have this iPhone 3GS I sold to a friend a while ago was on 4.3.3 and had the iPad baseband 06.15.00 on it. Last night I told him I would put iOS 5.0.1 on it for him I followed this guide, I thought the phone was on the old bootrom so I went ahead with the doing it with the oldbootrom.http://www.coolestguyplanet.net/upgrade-jailbroken-iphone-to-ios-5-and-preserve-baseband-with-redsn0w/

It all went perfect restore went right threw to the end with no error's then when iTunes came back up it said it was in recovery mode again. The screen is completely blank and i've tried every guide to get it out and i can't seem to get it out of dfu mode or whatever it is in. I tried to use the Redsn0w recovery fix but it didnt work, then I clicked Yes for new bootrom just too see what happened and it started to work went through to the picture with the pineapple and then just went back into dfu mode. So I tried to make a new custom firmware on new bootrom but when I tried to restore it wouldn't restore was saying "The iPhone “iPhone” cannot be restored at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable.
Please try again later."

Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

After ages of trying different things, got it to work :)!
