iPhone iphone 3gs iOS 5.0 05.16.05 searching... issue

Hey, i just got an iphone 3gs yesterday and installed cyndia, ultrasn0w and unlocked, now the problem is that when i insert the SIM it validates the PIN, identifies the carrier network in the about window but the signals keeps saying "searching", is there anything im missing?

Iphone Specs:
SN: XX1291XXXXX
BB: 05.16.05
V: 5.0(9A334)
 
Ultrasn0w does not unlock your baseband
You should not risk flashing the iPad baseband as your phone was made after the 27th week of 2011.

To unlock, you will have to get a carrier or grey market dealer IMEI unlock.
 
I read somewhere 29 2011 was possible to flash BB, before you post, so i ended up flashing it and it worked, im currently receiving calls, i read there were problems with GPS too, but its working too. The only thing i found not working so far is the loudspeakers on a call.

Anyway, thanks alot for your help! I was wondering if i could upgrade the firmware to 5.1.1 or will it lock my phone?
 
can i upgrade from 5.0 to 5.0.1 no bb? I would like to not depend on the PC to boot.

Current specs:
iOS: 5.0(9A334)
SN: xx129
Firmware: 06.15.00

Dunno, first time dealing with an iphone. will i be able to update iOS and still be able to jailbreak in the current version(5.1.1)? The BB that i have now is the one on the redsn0w (i had the install ipad baseband check) by that you mean downgrade after updating version?

Use Absinthe 2.0.4 to jailbreak any iDevice on 5.1.1

I suggest you research the tutorials on iClarified.com, the blogpost and some threads on the website I gave you earlier.
 
Btw, i wasnt lucky from what i've read iphone 3gs 32Gb can be unlock before 34 2011. Anyway i forgot to mention i had a 32Gb.

Hey, im trying to update from 5.0 to 5.1.1 no_bb but in the end itunes says it was unable to contact software update server, i've already done the network diagnostic and everything seems to be Ok, is there anything else i could try?

Whether you realize it or not, some Apple factories did begin using the new Toshiba bb chip in the 28th week of 2011.

Sadly, I have read posts where those who tried to flash the iPad baseband in week 28 to week 33 devices were not as lucky as you and ruined their cellular radio.

The 34th week of 2011 is an old standard we now know to be not quite accurate.

Download the IPSW to your desktop and navigate to it using iTunes.

Download the IPSW to your desktop and navigate to it using iTunes.

What do you mean by download? I've already download the firmware and did the custom thing on redsn0w to convert to no baseband. I've put the iphone in Pwned DFU mode to accept the custom firmware, i chose in Itunes the firmware, it extracts, but when it gets to the part where it verifies with apple a message pops up saying that itunes was unable to contact software update server.

And btw, thanks for your fast reply!
 
what carrier does this iPhone belong to? I just recommend an IMEI unlock, to avoid all these issues...not to mention battery degradation due to ultrasn0w

Make sure your host file is pointed to Apple, not Cydia.
Once you make the No_BB IPSW, put the phone in pwnedDFU mode and navigate to your custom IPSW using iTunes.
If you cover all 3 parts, it should work.
 
the problem was from my PC, hosts file is clean its probably the bios clock. Anyway already have the 5.1.1.

Not intending to bump an old thread, but I have a 3GS on 5.1.1 BB 5.16.05
XX153XXXXXX so 53rd week of 2011?

I guess I can't unlock this at all can I, iPad BB won't work as far as I know..
