iphone 3gs jailbreak and unlock

i am a newbie and as green as one can be.
i have a iphone 3gs 32gb version 4.0.2 (8A400) model MB718LL
modem firmware 05.13.04
i would like to jailbreak and unlock this iphone
please tell me the software i need to use to make this happen
i have been reading and getting a bit confused

Jailbreak with any of the tools available; Greenpois0n, Limera1n or Pwnage tool.

Once Jailbroken, download Ultrasn0w from Cydia, and run it (to unlock).

Done.

note: if you don't have your SHSHs saved for 4.0.2 or 4.0.1 or anything else, if something goes wrong during the jailbreaking/unlocking process, you will be force to restore to the current firmware 4.2.1 and updating the baseband to a version that is not currently unlockable. Just an FYI

Limera1n should put a white icon on your springboard that is a cydia loader, you need to run this "white icon" app to install (or load) Cydia, after is done, it will reboot once, and Cydia will be there on all it glory.

If you don't see that loader "white icon", then you are NOT jailbroken, something didn't work, wither you didn't get the device on DFU correctly or something is not quite right, try again.

You old bootrom?

You can have latest 4.2.1, retain that baseband you have which can be unlocked and if old bootrom it will be untethered even.
