Hi,
Is the a jailbreak for iPhone 3GS available or not?
iOS: 5.0.1 (9A405)
BB: 05.16.05
Thanks,
Optimus

JB Yes, tethered. Unless you have the old bootrom then untethered.
Unlock no, unless you install the ipad baseband.

OP if your 3GS was manufacture later than week 35 of 2011 the iPad baseband won't work, do NOT flash it on it.

iPhone Dev Team said:
Owners of newer 3GS iPhones must not flash the iPad baseband. The iPad baseband will not work on 3GS iPhones built later than 2011 week 35. You have a week 35 or later device if your serial # starts with xx135.

iPhone 3GS JB

Hi guys,
Thanks a lot for your responses. According to a web site, my iPhone 3GS was manufactured in week 38 of 2009 (Serial #: 84938MK63NP).
Thanks,
Optimus

Is there any possible way to unlock this phone though?

I have the exact same thing. FIRMWARE: 5.0.1 BASEBAND: 05.16.05

I have jailbroken the phone. Ultrasnow is supposdly not compatible with my baseband yet. So I searched online and the only other way I could find would be to upgrade the baseband to 06.15.00. When I try to do this by "Installing ipad baseband" in redsnow, it says something like ERROR! no sucessful firmware download after 60000 ms!! giving up..."

what do i do?
