iPhone 3GS: Location Services and battery

If i leave it on, will it waste battery? I know it will when i use it, but if i leave it on and not use any apps that might use it, will it waste battery?

Every one is going to tell you yes, but it's not really unless you open alot of apps the require it.

I rarly use it. but it would be helpful for when i DO use it to tag photos, or get my current location quickly. I wouldnt be watching my car move with the gps in maps.

Most apps the use location services just use it for a few seconds. It's not a huge drain, don't worry about it.
