Can anything be confirmed by Model number MC153LL?

Looking for where it was made and if it is factory unlocked.

How can I check if this one is factory unlocked?

Besides, the icons don't wiggle in order to re-arrange or delete them?
How do I get to that, holding the finger on screen for 5 seconds is not working.

TIA

Bump since I tried to google MC153LL and 4 results came out of which 2 were from this website. Please help

To find out where it was made you need the serial number. I don't know about how to tell if it is unlocked or not.

Thanks for replying. Could you please advise how to check using serial number where it was made?

Bump, nobody knows an answer for this question?
Used google to find but nothing came up except a turkish website and MR.
Hoping to get a reply now at least.

Only phone carriers authorize factory unlocks so as far as this goes I would contact your carrier to see if they have any additional information about whether your phone is factory unlocked or not.

Thanks and I'm buying this used. Don't know how to trace it back to which carrier it belongs? Even the seller bought it used. Thanks

you might be able to contact AT&T and provide them some information. They are the ones who should do the authorized unlock.

A factory unlocked iphone after a restore thru itunes will give you this message below on your computer screen.

Is it software unlocked or factory unlocked?
If its software and you see a Cydia or Rock app icon or other JB addons on the phone its most likelly just JB and unlocked thru hacks.
The model number has nothing to do with it.

AT&T does not authorize any unlocked for any iphones. US iphones are never unlocked.
They will not be able to give you any info either.

Surprisingly this phone starts acting like the iphones at Apple store promoting iPhone. Even worse, this 3GS shows ads of iPhone 3G!! That somehow leads me to get more curious about this phone. Another thing, the icons doesn't wiggle even after tapping and staying on for 5 seconds. Lot of weird things going on with this phone which is tempting me to check the origin of this phone.

It is currently on 3.0 firmware and Apple isn't signing those firmwares for restore. Is there a way to get past Apple signing the firmwares during updates and restores?

Sounds weird.
Make sure its not a chinese knockoff or anything like that cause alot of people fall for those.
Plug it into itunes and see if it recognizes it as an iphone.
Play around with it for a while with its features and apps. If you used an iphone before you'd know right away if its a real iphone OS on it or not. If the icons dont start to wiggle after you hold your finger on an icon for 3 seconds then its not a real iphone. It might look like it on the outside.
From the looks of it doesnt sounds like you got a real iphone.

The phone is recognized in iTunes. Every single detail looks like an iphone. There is app store icon from which I'm able to download apps and for sure this is an iPhone. Any advise?

MC153LL model number brings nothing up on GOOGLE. That really blows everything!

Its a 3GS iPhone switching to screensaver promoting 3G iphone! Something strange.

The screensaver shows an ad of an iphone 3G?
Sounds really weird.
I wouldnt bother with it at all. Real iphones dont do that and real iphones let you rearange the icons by holding your finger on one icon for 3 seconds.
Real iphones dont have screensavers BTW.
If you dont touch anything for a minute the screen goes black. They just have a wallpaper image with the "slide to unlock" on the bottom. They dont play videos like that.
It might look like one but I really doubt its a real iphone.
I hope you didnt pay for it.

I paid for it and have the item with me not being able to figure out what to do with it. The phone is on 3.0 firmware and its for sure an authentic iphone. AppleCare warranty status for that serial number shows as valid and a registered Apple product. So I seriously don't know whats with promoting 3G iphone on 3GS iphone!!

actually they do. how do you think people use different carriers when going out of country. authorized unlock and different sim until they get back to the main country where they lived. heard about it and seen it. no cydia no nothing.

If I were you i'd just try a restore to the latest firmware..should prove things one way or another!

Thats false.
AT&T nor Apple unlocks any US iphones.
Get your facts straight. They do all other cellphones BUT the iphone.

Ok my bad. I double checked this and other carriers do the authorized unlock. AT&T does not. You would be correct. Sorry about that!!

Unless you need the unlock id restore to the latest firmware to see if its real.
