I jailbroke my phone a while ago with spirit. I'm still on 3.1.2 with baseband 5.11.07. I need to update to get some of the new apps on my phone, however I want to keep the jailbreak. What's the best way to go about this? Snowbreeze combined with Greenpoison is what I was going to try, but I'm stil on 3.1.2, not sure if that would work. Thanks in advance.

If you're happy with your current provider and have no intention of switching or selling your iPhone anytime soon, you update the 3GS in iTunes to 4.2 and run http://www.greenpois0n.com on it. This gives you a perfect, untethered jailbreak.

If you require a soft unlock (Ultrasn0w) and use Windows I'd recommend (not really but hey it's relatively easy!) Snowbreeze. Best is to make friends with a really hot chick who runs OS X and use PwnageTool to preserve you baseband :D

No need to mix different jailbreak tools, they all use the same exploit
