How are people on Ebay selling these without any contracts? I know you can cancel then pay the ETF, but then if you do that within the first 30 days you have to take it back and it hasn't even been a week! Any have any good educated guess or actually know?

The units may be stolen -- wouldn't put it past anyone out there.

Also, I know that you could buy the iPhone without a service contract for a higher price.

what people are doing in the UK is:
walk into O2/CPW shop
Sign up to £35 per month contract & pay £99 for iphone 3g
Register phone & sim card
Restore iphone to factory default
Keep sim
Sell iphone for £450+
18 months contract costs £630 + £99 for iphone
Put sim in other phone contract has now only cost £279 = £15.50 per month

personally i'd prefer to keep the iphone

they can sell it now and cancell the contract 30 days later and pocket some good money... it at least applys to US people

There was an 3G iPhone from Italy being sold on EBay for over $1,100 because in Italy all mobile phones must be sold unlocked and without a carrier.
