I recently knowingly bought an i3Gs with a power button that doesn't work.
I contacted a reputable repairer here in London who was going to replace the power module for a reasonable £40.
I took it in today, to be told that when fitted the new power module still didn't work and that there must be a problem somewhere else on the motherboard.
In addition, the technician said that the tell-tale sensors indicated that there had been some water ingress.
The thing is, the phone works perfectly well apart from the ability to be powered off or on but the technician reckoned that there was a 60% chance of another problem developing and that I should never "restore" the phone or update the IOS beyond that which it is on, 4.2.1.
He had nothing to gain from the advice given and didn't even charge me for his time.
My question is, having read other threads on here about those dreaded white/pink sensors, what are other people's experiences about the longevity of phones that may have been similarly maltreated?
