I bought a second hand iPhone 3GS and when it came it was jailbroken but things like bluetooth and wifi were disabled, i updated it to ios6 and now itunes says there is a problem with the iphone, im not sure if the previous owner tried to unlock it etc. When it was on ios4 previously the baseband was 05.16.07.
Any help os appreciated

What exactly is the error your getting?

restored the phone, then the phone comes up in the itunes sidebar and connects to the itunes store then it gives me an error saying there is a problem with your phone, and gives me some links for service/warranty

Try another sync cable and in another usb port....

I tried that already, i think it has something to do with the previous owner unlocking it their self and maybe messing the baseband up, it says searching in the top corner and never finds the carrier.

Also is there any way to make it usable with ios6? i at least had it on the home screen and connected to itunes before

Not compatible with the ipad bb.
Sounds like a hardware fault.

Ok thanks for the help, is there no way to at least get it into a working state with ios 6? When it was on 4.1 it would at least let me ise everything else and add music etc
Thanks

You can go back to 4.1 if you want. Apple still signs it for the 3GS so give it a shot.
Just download the 4.1 ipsw for the 3GS and shift/option restore with iTunes.

Thanks il give that a shot, I wasn't aware it was possible to downgrade firmware

Yep, only for the 3GS you can downgrade to 4.1 without blobs cause for some odd reason Apple still signs that firmware version.

Thanks il give that another go although last time I restored with 4.1 iTunes would detect the phone but it Stayed on the connect to iTunes screen and I think there was a problem with activation although somehow before I restored it would boot to the home screen
