iPhone 3GS problems.

Hi
I have an iphone 3gs which was unlocked by a previous supplier. Its running 4.2.1 and I cant seem to update the OS to get the aps on it I want. It has modem firmware 05.15.04. Im not sure what I actually have to do to get this old sucker upgraded. What is the optimal OS for a 3gs?

Can you provide more details? Like what happens when you attempt the update in iTunes? Do you get an error message? Does your computer not recognize the device? Etc.

It is recognised in Itunes, i get the following msg : 'This version of the Iphone software (4.2.1) is the current version'
I've restored the phone a couple of times to see if that would allow me to the update but no dice.

Sounds like you have an iPhone 3G and not a 3GS.
