iPhone 3GS stuck in jailbreak

I just jailbroke my iPhone 3GS and i can't restore it back to normal. I used Redsn0w and did a tethered jailbreak with IOS 5.0. I have tried restoring it multiple times and it will not let me resotre it. I have tried running tinyumbrella in the background and still nothing is working. have downloaded 3.0 or 4.5 or another 5.0 and i just keep getting different error codes. (ex. error 11, error 20) if someone could help me restore it that would be great.

Have you tried putting it in DFU mode?
