Hi,

I have an iPhone 3gs (< 2 months old, warranty replacement) that is now in a constant reboot loop, or so I believe.

Prior to this incident, I was running OS 4.2.1 with NO jailbreak. I was trying to load iOS 4.1 back on the phone so that I could jailbreak it, but was having difficulty due to the error messages I kept getting.

So, I used TinyUmbrella v 4.1.13 for the TSS server issue, and also iREB V4.0x/4.1r2 to put the device in the "black screen mode." And that's where it started going wrong-- once I began using iREB to put the iPhone into the recovery mode, the phone won't come out of it.

Now I am stuck-- the phone is a constant reboot cycle. Not only am I unable to load 4.1, I am unable to do anything. I tried using iRecovery in command prompt, but the program keeps saying no USB/iPhone detected.

Please help.

Thanks,
Michael

You can only restore back to a previous firmware if you have the shsh files saved and you edited your host files.

Now you have to put your iPhone back into DFU mode and restore to 4.2.1

Did you have 4.1 shsh's saved on cydia for this new replacement iphone?
Dont use ireb, TU is all you'll need.
Once you restore to 4.1 and get the error message you just click "kick device out of recovery" on the tinyumbrella program.

I did edit my host files and was able to get past the part where iTunes verifies with Apple. The issue is when it loads 4.1, it will spit out a 1015 error towards the end, which I believe (could be wrong) is completely unrelated to the lack of a saved blob.

Strangely, loading 4.2.1 using the same procedure (through iTunes) is suddenly working again. So right now I having a working phone with 4.2.1-- but am still puzzled as to why 4.1 won't load.

Ideas?

Thanks.

After seeing error 1015, you then have to use TinyUmbrella to kick your iPhone out of recovery.
