iPhone 3GS stuck in recovery and when connected to computer restarts

Hi i'm new to the forum, but what happend was my iphone kept switching itself off and to switch it back on it had to be reset (hold home and sleep button) and sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn't. So to combat this i thought i would update it, it was version 4.1 and updated to 4.3.3 however just before it finished the iphone reset itself and it's now stuck in dfu/recovery mode (itunes icon and usb, sorry i dont know which one it is!) however every time iI connect it to the computer it resets itself, and this just keeps happening. Pleaseeee help me! It would be much appreciated!

try plugging it into the computer, let it restart, then put it into DFU mode. Once in DFU try re-installing the firmware. good luck.

thanks for the reply man! ive somehow got it to stop restarting, however now when I try restoring it but it comes up with error 3194
