iPhone 3GS stuck in Recovery Mode

Hi;
I'm not very familiar with iPhone jargon so here's my simplistic explenation to my problem.
I have an iPhone 3GS Jailbroken from 2 years ago, i bought it from a friend who got it from the USA (live in Qatar)
Because the apps keep hanging, I was told I needed to restore it, I did the normal things, plugged it into itunes and clicked on restore and update (don't care much about the jailbreak) I keep getting error messages the latest one is ERROR (11)
Can someone explain to me what I can do to fix this?

Try DFU-Mode. Google it to see how. And make sure it's DFU-Mode and not Recovery Mode.

Yep, as suggested, I, too, strongly recommand a DFU Restore. If it's still not working could you tell us your iOs version is it 6 or a 5.x.x ?
I looked up your problem on the internet and found some solution but all the ERRORS 11 I found were iOs 5.x.x related ...
