I have a jailbroken iphone 3gs that I have used with tmobile, this was when tmobile did not carry the iphone, that is why it is jailbroken.

I have had it and used it fine for about 3yrs, when all of a sudden when I tried to make a call, I got no service and failed calls. I kept getting a message saying cellular service is restricted please choose another carrier.

I would then go into settings, and select tmobile, only to be on the restriced cellular data message loop.

I then did a shut down and reboot of my phone, and this seems to have brought my service back.

I need the phone to be reliable, to make calls, how do I know it will not do this again? how do I keep it from happening again?

Is the phone dying? if I end up having to get a new phone will I be able to keep m y current tmobile plan?

I have pay as you go and would want to keep my number and plan if I got a new iphone.
