IPhone 3GS turns off during all calls

Hi,I have an I Phone 3GS and during every call exceeding 5 mins the phone reboots itself after first showing the Apple logo.
I rang apple about this and they said to turn phone off completely and i did. This appeared to solve the problem, for a few days.
any suggestions as this is really annoying?

Have you tried to do a complete DFU restore?

Alternative is to make sure you hang up every 4 mins and 55 seconds.

Do you have a case on the phone, I had this problem with a hard case that wasn't allowing heat to escape from the back of the phone during calls, the phone would overheat and reset

If you've got a case on the phone, remove it. If that doesn't help, try a restore.

Mine does this too. Not sure about the time period after which it resets, but it does it annoyingly frequently.

I'm not using any case.

Yes I have a case on the back of it but have had this issue since before i put case on. Also i have done a full restore on it
Seriously annoying.
Wonder if it is Apple's method of getting me to upgrade to new phone?
